Alain Hubert is a civil engineer by training, a polar explorer, a certified mountain guide (UIAGM), a carpenter, an entrepreneur and a public speaker.

Since 1983, he has taken part to many expeditions to the North and South Poles.

In 2002, he co-founded the International Polar Foundation (IPF), which aims to raise awareness about the importance of polar science and climate change.

Recently, he was the Chief Engineer for the on-site construction of the Princess Elisabeth Station in Antarctica. This is the first "zero emission" polar research station, designed and built by the International Polar Foundation during the International Polar Year 2007-2008.

Alain Hubert is also a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. He was awarded the Georges Lemaître International Prize in 2003 and the first Climate Change Prize ever given by the Foundation Prince Albert II of Monaco in 2008.
