Letter to all MEPs
Three Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have launched a Written Declaration for the promotion of electric cars in February 2009 (download - pdf 100 kB).
To support this Declaration, Going-Electric sent the following letter to all MEPs on May 5:
Dear Member of the European Parliament,
Going-Electric, the European Association for Battery Electric Vehicles, is a Brussels-based non-profit association of businesses, associations, NGOs and individuals, promoting electric vehicles in Europe as the most sustainable motorised road vehicles because of their huge advantages in terms of environmental protection and energy consumption. More information at www.going-electric.org.
Electric vehicles are the future. They represent a unique opportunity for Europe to create wealth and new jobs. Europe must become a leader in their production and commercialisation to remain industrially and environmentally competitive and maintain employment in the automotive and related sectors, to reduce its oil dependency, and to reach IPCC’s 2050 targets for CO2 emissions.
The European Institutions should be encouraged to boost the development of these vehicles. This is why three MEPs have launched the Written Declaration n° 0019/2009 on the promotion of electric cars (read it here). Many of you have not yet signed this Declaration and its closing date is May the 7th.
May we therefore ask you to support this Declaration by signing it up to May the 7th?
Thank you very much for supporting this important issue,
Kind regards,
Jean-Claude Fontanive
