Brussels, 17 May 2011 – The European CARS 21 High-Level group organised on Friday 13 May 2011 a public hearing bringing together a wide group of stakeholders into presenting recommendations for the CARS 21 Final Reports. Jacques de Selliers, Managing Director of Going-Electric, Association for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in Europe, gave a presentation during which he highlighted four key points for a competitive EU automotive industry and sustainable mobility, and submitted a Position Paper, which is summarised hereafter.

Going-Electric meets MEPs

Going-Electric, jointly with two of its members, sent in June a request for a meeting to the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) in the Transport, Environment and Industry commissions, proposing to exchange views on electric vehicles (EVs). We already met around this quarter about 30 MEPs.

July 2010: CEN-CENELEC Focus Group on Electro Mobility

Going-Electric joined CEN-CENELEC Focus Group on European Electro Mobility

Going-Electric is part of the CEN-CENELEC Focus Group defining standards for charging electric vehicles. Going-Electric targets to ensure that the mains need of EV users is met: being able to safely charge on domestic sockets.

Our political guidelines

Going-Electric advocates for policies and directives effectively promoting Electric Vehicle (EVs) in Europe and creating incentives for consumers and producers that will foster their widespread commercialisation.

EVs are a cheap and effective way of reducing GHG emissions while significantly improving urban noise, air quality and energy security. Europe must become a leader in order to remain competitive and maintain jobs in the automotive sector.

Vision	Because of the huge benefits that Electric Vehicles (EVs) bring in terms of environmental protection and energy consumption, they are undoubtedly the motorised road vehicles of the future. Europe must become a leader in their production and commercialisation to remain industrially and environmentally competitive in the automotive sector, reduce its oil dependency and reach its 2050 targets for CO2 emissions.
Mission	To be the voice of all EV stakeholders towards a European legislative framework enabling a European leadership in EV production and commercialisation.
Objective	To ensure European policies and directives leading to the research subsidies and incentives to producers, consumers and cities that will enable Europe to become a leader in terms of production of EVs and their parts as well as of EV commercialisation.
